14th December 2025
London was where Run for Voices truly began.
On the morning of December 14th, I stood at the start feeling nervous, more nervous than I expected. I wasn’t just about to run my longest distance ever. I was stepping into something bigger than myself. This wasn’t just a run anymore. It was the first step of a journey built on purpose.
The run began at Big Ben, right in the heart of London. From there, the route headed toward Tower Bridge, crossing the Thames before continuing on to the Greenwich Observatory. After reaching Greenwich, I retraced the route through South London, carrying the miles back toward the city.
As the distance added up, the run moved past Battersea Power Station, then into Hyde Park, before passing through Buckingham Palace. From there, the final stretch brought me back to where it all started: Big Ben.
That full loop marked 50 kilometres, completing The Ultra Marathon in London and ticking Country #1 of the challenge.
The day itself felt like a gift. London greeted us with clear skies and winter sunshine, one of those rare days where the city feels calm and open. As I ran, the nerves slowly gave way to focus. Every kilometre made the idea of Run for Voices feel more real.
Along the route, something special happened.
People I had never met before joined me for parts of the run, offering encouragement, conversation, and energy. But one moment will stay with me forever.
At around 35 kilometres, when fatigue was setting in and I was moving into unfamiliar territory, a 75-year-old runner joined me. I had never run more than 33km before in my life, and at that point my pace had slowed. Without knowing it, he helped pull me forward. We ran together, side by side for 3 kilometres, and his presence gave me exactly what I needed to keep going.
Toward the end of the run, another unexpected moment of support arrived. Davide, a childhood friend, joined me for the final 5 kilometres. I never imagined he would turn up, let alone run alongside me, but he felt it was important not to let me finish alone. Having someone from my past there in that final stretch made the moment even more meaningful.
Crossing the finish of my first 50km, I didn’t feel like I had completed something. I felt like I had started something.
London wasn’t about performance.
It was about belief.
Belief that this journey could exist.
Belief that people would show up.
Belief that Run for Voices could become something real.
50 kilometres.
Country #1, England 🇬🇧
Completed.
And this is only the beginning.
