Run for Voices: Country #19 — Northern Ireland

50K from Belfast to Lisburn and back

On 13 September 2026, Run for Voices reached another major milestone: country number 19 out of 50.

This time, the challenge took me to Northern Ireland, where I set out from Belfast with one simple goal: run 50 kilometres and finish back in Belfast.

The route took me from Belfast towards Lisburn, through a mixture of roads, trails and beautiful green landscapes. One of the highlights was running through the forest trails, which gave the run a completely different feeling from some of the previous countries I’ve visited.

But 50 kilometres is still 50 kilometres.

As the distance built up, the legs became heavier and the run became increasingly tiring.

There were plenty of moments where the finish felt a long way away, but the whole point of Run for Voices is to keep moving forward, no matter where the challenge takes me.

After reaching Lisburn, I turned around and made my way back towards Belfast.

The final part of the run was particularly special.

With just 5 kilometres left, Duncan joined me and accompanied me back towards the finish. Having someone alongside me for those final kilometres made a huge difference when the body was already exhausted.

We eventually made it back to Belfast, finishing the 50K near the Titanic Museum.

50 kilometres completed.
Country #19 completed.

Another country, another ultra marathon, another step towards the bigger goal.

Run for Voices is my challenge to run 50 km in 50 countries while raising awareness and funds for the Throat Cancer Foundation, turning every kilometre into an opportunity to help give a voice to people affected by throat cancer.

Northern Ireland was tough. It was tiring. But we got it done.
