Run for Voices: Ultra-Marathon #21, Country #21 - Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹
10 October 2026 | 50K across the Austrian capital - Running through Vienna: 1,050 kilometres into the challenge
On 10 October 2026, Run for Voices reached another milestone as I took on country number 21 out of 50 in Vienna, Austria.
The mission remains the same: run 50 kilometres in 50 countries to raise awareness and funds for the Throat Cancer Foundation, supporting people affected by throat cancer.
But every country brings a different experience, and Vienna was a city I wanted to explore properly, not from a car or a sightseeing bus, but on foot, one kilometre at a time.
I started my run with 50 kilometres ahead of me, taking a route across the city that allowed me to experience Vienna’s extraordinary architecture and historic streets.
Vienna is a city where imperial history meets modern European life. Its grand buildings, elegant boulevards and beautiful squares make it feel like an open-air museum. From the magnificent architecture of the historic centre to the quieter streets beyond it, there was something new to discover around every corner.
Running through the city gave me the chance to appreciate these details in a completely different way. Every neighbourhood had its own character, and the kilometres became more than just a distance to cover.
But as beautiful as the route was, this was still a 50K ultra marathon. The kilometres kept accumulating, and the physical challenge became increasingly demanding.
At around 30 kilometres, I met Martin who decided to join me for the remaining kilometres.
From that point on, I wasn’t running the final stretch alone.
Having someone beside you when you’ve already covered 30 kilometres can make an enormous difference. The body is tired, the mind starts negotiating, and every kilometre requires a little more determination.
Martin stayed with me until the finish, helping turn those final 20 kilometres into a shared experience.
It’s moments like these that make Run for Voices about much more than running. You can travel to a new country without knowing anyone, but a shared experience can create a connection that lasts long after the finish line.
To Martin, thank you for joining me and being part of this journey.
1,050 kilometres. 21 countries. One mission.
Crossing the finish line in Vienna meant another 50 kilometres completed and another country added to the challenge.
The numbers now stood at:
Country #21 out of 50
1,050 kilometres completed
1,450 kilometres still to go
29 countries remaining
When I started Run for Voices, I knew that running 50 kilometres in 50 countries would push me physically and mentally. What I continue to discover is that every run brings something different: new landscapes, unexpected encounters, difficult moments and reminders of why I started.
This challenge is also deeply personal. Throat cancer has affected my family, and I want to use my passion for running to help raise awareness and funds for the Throat Cancer Foundation.
Behind every kilometre is a cause bigger than myself. Every country is another opportunity to tell the story, reach new people and encourage more support for those affected by throat cancer.
That’s what makes this journey special.
Country #21 - Vienna, Austria.
1,050 kilometres completed.
50 countries. One mission.
Onto the next one:
Country #22
Cairo, Egypt. 🇪🇬
October 30th, 2026.
We’re pushing our limits, one country at a time.
This is Run for Voices. 🌍🏃🏻♂️❤️
