🇩🇪 Ultra-Marathon in Germany, COUNTRY #18 BERLIN, GERMANY 🇩🇪
5:00 AM.
The alarm went off.
One hour later, I was running.
6:00 AM. 50 kilometres ahead.
Berlin was about to become Country #18 of Run for Voices.
I started by heading straight to Tempelhof Airport, the huge, historic former airport in the heart of Berlin where I ran 28km around the old airfield, through the streets of Berlin, and deeper into the run.
But I wasn’t alone.
Shawn & Bhavi woke up early, stayed with me, filmed, took pictures and helped me tell the story of this day from start to finish.
Then, somewhere north of Berlin, I met Petra who also came to Copenhagen, Denmark (6/50)
She had driven all the way from the other side of Germany just to support me.
She jumped on her bike.
And stayed with me for the last 15 kilometres.
At that point, the legs were tired.
But the mission wasn’t.
Then came the final 2.5 kilometres.
Ina & Ohssie joined me.
Together, we ran towards the Brandenburg Gate.
And suddenly, 50 kilometres was no longer just a number.
It was another country.
Another story.
Another step forward.
4 hours and 17 minutes.
My fastest 50K Ultra-Marathon so far.
🇩🇪 BERLIN, GERMANY - COUNTRY #18/50.
18 countries down.
32 to go.
And every kilometre is still for those who have lost their voices, those still fighting, and everyone affected by throat cancer.
This one was special.
Berlin, thank you.
The journey continues. 🌍🏃🏻♂️
