Running a 50K Ultra Marathon in Edinburgh was never going to be easy.

The hills make sure of that.

This was country number 10 of Run for Voices: a milestone moment in the journey.

The run began at 11:00 AM from the city centre, heading out towards the coast before looping around the iconic Arthur’s Seat.

From the very start, the challenge was clear.

Strong winds.

Relentless hills.

A route that demanded constant effort.

But that’s the nature of ultra marathons.

You don’t wait for perfect conditions.

You adapt.

After pushing through the first part of the run, I made my way back towards the city centre, where I met Carrie, who joined for an incredible 35K.

Running alongside someone who matches your energy changes everything.

It becomes less about distance…

and more about shared momentum.

By 3:00 PM, with the legs starting to feel the effort, we met Euan, Rays, Matthew & Daniel.

They joined for the final 12K.

And that made all the difference.

The last stretch took us through some of the most iconic views in the city.

With Edinburgh Castle standing in the background, we pushed through to the finish line in the park.

A moment that made every step worth it.

This run was dedicated to Cassie and her dad, Ralston Gudgeon.

He fought and overcame throat cancer.

Stories like this are the reason Run for Voices exists.

Cassie was there at the finish line.

We shared a moment, took a picture, and it reminded me exactly why this challenge matters.

After the run, I was joined by friends who travelled to be there —

Giuseppe & Chloe, Adam & Ellie.

We celebrated the only way that made sense:

At Paesano Pizza, with a proper Italian pizza.

Edinburgh gave more than just a route.

It gave support.

Energy.

People.

Connection.

From strangers cheering along the way to those who ran beside me, this is a city that will always stay with me.

Country #10 complete.

A milestone reached.

Run for Voices continues.

50K in 50 countries.
