🇪🇸 Ultra-Marathon #5, Country #5, Barcelona, Spain
Updated: Feb 17

7th February 2026
Country number five of Run for Voices took place in Barcelona, Spain 🇪🇸
And this one tested me in a different way.
It was a beautiful February day.
20°C. Clear skies. Sunshine everywhere.
But I woke up not feeling my best.
Two days before the run, I had food poisoning. The effects were still there on the morning of the 50km. On top of that, I had a small fever the day before. The kind that makes you question whether your body will cooperate when it matters most.
But I was determined to do it.
Luigi, a dear friend of mine, flew all the way from England to support me for this one. That alone meant everything. Knowing someone is willing to travel just to stand beside you changes your mindset before you even take the first step.

We started running, moving through the streets of Barcelona as the city came alive. Everywhere we looked, people were outside. Training. Cycling. Running. Playing sports. Laughing. Being social. It was an incredible sight to witness, especially in February. The energy of the city carried us forward.
Later, Nadia and Jose joined us. Two people I had never met before, yet they chose to invest their time, energy, and belief into Run for Voices.
Luigi had never run more than 33km before (Which we ran together). That day, we ran 45km together. He didn’t just complete a marathon. He stepped into ultra marathon territory for the first time.
Nadia was preparing for her first ever marathon. That day, she ran 30km for the first time in her life. Pushing boundaries she hadn’t touched before.
Jose brought strength and positivity all the way to the end.
There were moments when my body reminded me I had been sick just 48 hours earlier. But every time doubt surfaced, I looked around me. This was no longer just my run. It was shared.
Nadia organised the entire itinerary. And it was incredible. By running, we saw everything. The coastline. The city streets. The heartbeat of Barcelona. We experienced the city the way it was meant to be experienced, step by step.

And then, the cherry on top.
I finished the 50 kilometres in front of La Sagrada FamÃlia.
Standing there, exhausted but fulfilled, in front of one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, felt symbolic. A reminder that big things take time. Effort. Vision. Persistence.
This run showed me something powerful.
Run for Voices is not just pushing me.
It’s pushing others too.
It’s inspiring people to go further than they thought they could. To attempt their first marathon. Their first ultra. To show up for a cause bigger than themselves.
50 kilometres.
Sunshine. 20°C.
Food poisoning 48 hours before.
Country #5 of 50.
Barcelona, Spain 🇪🇸
Completed. ✅
Now onto country number six.
Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰
14th February 2026.
Run for Voices continues.
