🇸🇪 Ultra-Marathon #8, Stockholm, Sweden

15th March 2026
Running 50K in cold, wet conditions is one thing.
Doing it one week after another ultra… is something else.
Stockholm didn’t start the way I expected.
I arrived with a mild fever, still feeling the effects from the previous ultra-marathon in Athens, Greece just a week before.
Rain. Grey skies. Low energy.
I spent most of the day in the hotel, trying to recover…
but I still went out for a short walk in the evening, just to move, just to reset.
The run was set for Sunday morning.
The Alarm rings at 4:30 AM.
Still dark. Still raining.
By 5:30 AM, after a quick porridge, I started the ultra.
I began from Kista, running through the woods toward Stockholm city centre.
Quiet trails. Wet ground.
And... deer crossing through the forest.
Then everything changed.
At Monteliusvägen, around 20K in, the rain turned into snow.
The city opened up in front of me,
Stockholm covered in a mix of rain, ice, and fresh snowfall.
It was one of those moments where you forget the fatigue…
even if just for a second.
By 10 AM, I was already 37K in.
That’s when I met the Stockholm Run Club.
They were heading out for their Sunday run,
and those final 13K became something completely different.
Running with them gave me a second wind.
Same pace.
Same energy.
Pushing through the final stretch together.
I finished the 50K in 5 hours and 8 minutes my best time so far.

.
Rain. Snow. Mixed terrain.
And temperatures around 2°C.
This is what ultra marathon running really looks like.
Not perfect conditions.
Not perfect timing.
Just adaptation.
This run was for Tracey, a throat cancer survivor and ambassador of the Throat Cancer Founndation.
Thank you to everyone who joined me for part of the run,
it made a difference.
Country #8 complete.

Into the Arctic.
